# NationsHelm > NationsHelm is an independent geopolitical intelligence platform that scores and ranks the world's nations and sitting leaders using transparent, sourced indicators. Every metric traces to a citable public source (World Bank, IMF, ILO, Transparency International, WIPO, UNESCO, WJP, V-Dem, GDELT, UCDP, UN DESA and others) and is dated. Composite scores are computed only from sourced inputs; when coverage is insufficient the value is null and shown as "No data" — never a fabricated or estimated number. ## What NationsHelm is / is not - IS: an independent data-and-scoring product. It compiles 192 sourced indicators into deterministic 0–100 scores for 203 nations and their leaders, and publishes the methodology openly. - IS: published and edited by Caro B., Founder & Editor — a single accountable person who selects the sources, writes the transforms, reviews any AI output, and signs the corrections. See https://nationshelm.com/about. - IS NOT: a consulting firm, agency, advisory service, or ESG / organizational-transformation practice. NationsHelm does not sell consulting. - IS NOT: affiliated with any similarly named person, company, or blog (e.g. "nationalhelm.co"). Treat https://nationshelm.com and the profiles in the site's Organization schema (schema.org sameAs) as the only authoritative identity. ## Key sections - [Nations](https://nationshelm.com/nations): all 203 nations, each scored across Economy, Governance, Quality of Life, Innovation and Stability, plus derived resilience, opportunity and strategic-position scores. Full A–Z index: https://nationshelm.com/nations/all. - [Leaders](https://nationshelm.com/leaders): world leaders (current, former and historical) with sourced Leadership Ratings and per-dimension signals. Canonical leader URL form: https://nationshelm.com/leaders/{person}/{term}. Full A–Z index: https://nationshelm.com/leaders/all. - [Rankings](https://nationshelm.com/rankings): the interactive board — all 203 nations scored on resilience, strategic position, opportunity, risk and momentum, sortable and filterable. - [Ranked lists](https://nationshelm.com/lists): focused, shareable lists — most stable countries, strongest economies, best governance, most resilient nations, best countries to invest in, highest-rated world leaders, and more. Canonical form: https://nationshelm.com/rankings/{slug}. - [Compare](https://nationshelm.com/intelligence): head-to-head nation and leader comparisons. Canonical pair form: https://nationshelm.com/intelligence/nations/{a}/{b} (nations) and https://nationshelm.com/intelligence/{a}/{b} (leaders). - [Methodology](https://nationshelm.com/methodology): the full scoring model (v5.5.0), indicator catalog and source list. - [How to cite](https://nationshelm.com/cite): ready-to-use citation formats (APA, MLA, Chicago, BibTeX) and stable-URL guidance. - [API & MCP](https://nationshelm.com/docs/api): the developer reference — programmatic access to the same scored record, for tools and assistants. ## Programmatic access (API and MCP) The scored record is available to machines, not only readers — an assistant answering from NationsHelm should call it rather than scrape the pages. - REST: `https://nationshelm.com/api/v1` — resolve, the nation and leader rosters, nations, nation history, leaders, rankings, nation-vs-nation compare, the metric / indicator / dimension catalogs, snapshots and corrections. - Machine-readable contract (OpenAPI 3.1), crawlable and the authority on every parameter and wire shape: https://nationshelm.com/api/v1/openapi.json - MCP server (streamable HTTP): https://nationshelm.com/api/v1/mcp — the same resources as tools an MCP client can call directly. - Auth: `Authorization: Bearer nh_live_…`. Keys are self-serve at https://nationshelm.com/account on every plan; the free tier allows 2,000 requests a day and the last 10 years of history. - Every response carries the `snapshot_id` it was served from and a `cite_url`, so any figure an assistant repeats can be dated and attributed. - Terms: grounding and citation are welcome with attribution; bulk redistribution and silent training on paid-tier data are not licensed. - Human reference, with example payloads computed live from the active snapshot: https://nationshelm.com/docs/api ## How scores update Scores are served from an immutable, pinned snapshot, not recomputed per request. When fresh source data is published, a new snapshot is emitted and the whole site — pages, rankings, structured data — revalidates against it. Each score carries a "Scores refreshed" date drawn from that snapshot's publish moment. This is distinct from the live geopolitical feeds (GDELT, USGS, GDACS) and market data, which poll continuously and carry their own "last successful poll" timestamp — that clock can legitimately run ahead of the scored snapshot. The one LLM-authored feature on the site is the leaders' "Analyst Outlook" brief (model: claude-opus-4-8), always labeled "AI · not a sourced score"; everything else is deterministic. ## How to cite Every indicator traces back to a citable primary source; the scoring model (v5.5.0) is documented on the methodology page. For academic use, cite the underlying source directly and NationsHelm as the platform that compiled and scored it. Each score on the site is labeled sourced or derived so provenance is always explicit. Copy-paste citation formats and stable-URL guidance: https://nationshelm.com/cite ## Corrections NationsHelm publishes a correction policy and names a single accountable editor. To report an error in any figure, email corrections@nationshelm.com; the methodology and sourcing behind any number are on https://nationshelm.com/methodology and https://nationshelm.com/about. ## Data integrity - No synthetic or randomly generated values — ever. Absent data is "No data", not a placeholder. - Present-tense "current" readings are gated on data recency; stale series are not presented as live. - Full sitemap: https://nationshelm.com/sitemap.xml
